Social connection troubleshooting

Fix YouTube connection issues

Use this guide when YouTube does not finish connecting. The most common fixes are choosing the correct Google account, switching to the right channel, and confirming that your Google account has permission to manage a Brand Account channel when one is involved.

Most YouTube connection problems happen because the browser is signed into the wrong Google account, the wrong channel is selected, or the connected Google account has not been granted access to the Brand Account that owns the channel.

What must be true before you retry

Sign in with the Google account that owns or manages the YouTube channel you want to connect.
If the channel uses a Brand Account, make sure your Google account has owner or manager access first.
If you manage multiple channels, switch to the exact channel you want before retrying the connection.
Finish the Google consent screen instead of closing the popup partway through.
If channel access was recently granted, accept the invite and confirm it inside YouTube Studio before trying again.

The failure patterns we expect most often

The wrong Google account is signed in

Google signs in successfully, but the channel you need never appears. This usually means the browser is using a different Google account than the one that manages the channel.

The wrong channel is active

If one Google account manages several channels, YouTube can open under the wrong channel identity unless you switch before reconnecting.

Brand Account access has not been granted

Channels connected to a Brand Account require the current Google account to be added as an owner or manager before the connection can complete.

The approval window was interrupted

If the Google consent screen is closed, cancelled, or left incomplete, YouTube returns without a working connection.
