Social connection troubleshooting

Fix Threads connection issues

Threads uses the same Meta account system as the rest of the Meta apps. Most failures come from using the wrong account, closing the approval window, or expecting a different profile than the one currently signed in.

Threads connection problems are usually easier to fix than they look: sign in with the correct Meta account, complete the approval window, and start again from the beginning if the previous attempt was interrupted.

What must be true before you retry

Sign in with the Meta account that actually owns the Threads profile you want to connect.
Complete the approval popup instead of closing it halfway through.
If you were bounced back from an older attempt, start over with a fresh connection instead of retrying the old window.
Make sure the Threads profile itself is active and accessible in the signed-in account.
If the problem only affects one browser session, sign out of other Meta accounts and try again.

The failure patterns we expect most often

The wrong Meta account is signed in

If the currently signed-in Meta account does not own the Threads profile you expect, the connection can fail or attach to the wrong profile.

The approval window was cancelled

Closing the popup or declining the request sends you back without finishing the connection.

An old connection attempt was reused

If you reopen an older callback page or retry from a stale popup, Meta may reject the attempt.

Another Meta login in the browser is getting in the way

Browsers with several Facebook, Instagram, or Meta sessions open at once often end up using the wrong account during login.
