Fix Instagram connection issues

This guide helps when Instagram setup does not finish. The most common fixes are switching the account to a professional profile, approving the permission window, and checking whether your Facebook Page link is set up the way your team expects.

Instagram must be a professional account before it can be connected here. Most failures happen because the account is still personal, the permission window was cancelled, or the team expected a Facebook Page link that is not set up yet.

What must be true before you retry

The Instagram account must be set to Professional, which means Business or Creator.
If you just changed the account type, finish the setup inside Instagram first, then start a new connection attempt.
Approve the permission window instead of closing it early.
If your workflow depends on Facebook tools too, connect the professional Instagram account to the correct Facebook Page.
Retry from the beginning instead of reusing an old login window.

The failure patterns we expect most often

The Instagram account is still personal

A personal profile can sign in to Instagram, but it cannot be connected here until it is switched to a professional account.

The permission window was closed or rejected

If the permission window is closed or denied, Instagram sends you back without finishing the connection.

The account setup is incomplete

This can happen right after switching account type, or when the team expects Facebook-linked tools that have not been connected yet.

An old login attempt was reused

If you retry from an old popup or stale callback page, the connection can fail again right away. Start a completely new attempt.
